REGULATIONS OF THE ALGORITHMS LABORATORY =========================================== (updated: 3-March-1997) I. ALGORITHMS LAB The Algorithms Lab is located in S15, 02-13, DISCS, NUS. II. LAB MEMBERS, AUTHORIZED PERSONS, UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS (a) A "laboratory member" of the Algorithms Lab is a teaching staff who is affiliated with the lab. (b) A "research staff" of the Algorithms Lab is a research assistant/scholar attached to the lab. (c) An "authorized person" of a research lab is (i) a lab member of the Algorithms Lab, or (ii) a research staff of the Algorithms Lab, or (iii) a student who has been authorized by the lab coordinator. (d) All other persons are "unauthorized persons". III. GENERAL RULES OF THE ALGORITHMS LAB (a) Only AUTHORIZED PERSONS are permitted in the Algorithms Lab with the exception given in III(b). (b) Only LAB MEMBERS may escort unauthorised persons into the Algorithms Lab. Those persons may only stay in the lab while the lab member is present and must leave when the lab member leaves. *(c) Students MUST NEVER allow any unauthorised persons into the lab. (d) Authorized persons MUST NEVER reveal the digital lock code of the Algorithms Lab to unauthorized persons. (e) Authorized persons MUST NEVER make unauthorized copies of the key to the Algorithms Lab. (f) Authorized persons MUST NEVER reveal their computer password to anyone. (g) Authorized persons must not remove anything (equipment, document, books, furniture, software, etc) belonging to the Algorithms Lab without authorization. (h) Authorized persons must not attach any personal system or other equipments to the machines in the Algorithms Lab without authorization. (i) The last person who leaves the Algorithms Lab MUST ensure that (i) all lights have been switched off, and (ii) the combination lock is switched to operational mode. IV. STUDENTS USAGE OF THE ALGORITHMS LAB In addition to the "Rules for Algorithms Lab", all students must also observe the following RULES regarding their use of the Algorithms lab: (a) Students only become authorized persons when they have completed an "Authorization Form" signed by their supervisor and the lab coordinator. (b) UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES shall students allow guests, fellow students, or any other unauthorized person into the Algorithms Lab. WARNING: Users of the research laboratory found not complying to the rules will be warned. Repeat offenders will be denied access to the research laboratory. Disciplinary actions can be taken against those who have committed serious offences as spelt out by the rules and regulations of the university.
