In conjunction with
SSIRI 2010, two tutorials
conducted by practitioners with extensive industry experience will
demonstrate new knowledge and skills in developing reliable and secure
software.
- Make Six Sigma Tools Work for You in Developing Superior Products
-- Orange Belt Training by Dr.
Samuel J. Keene, Fellow of IEEE and Six Sigma Senior Master
Black Belt
- Master Practical Risk-Based Testing
-- By Dr. Rajesh Subramanyan from Siemens
Please roll down this page to find out more background
about the tutorials
TIME: 7 – 8 June 2010
LOCATION: National University of Singapore, Computing 1,
Seminar Room 8
GOAL: Student will be able to
use the key problem resolution and problem avoidance tools, identify
potentially good six sigma project opportunities, function well on a
six sigma team, and directly use the tools and execute basic six
sigma projects. The student will have hands-on tool usage.
INTERNATIONAL TRAINER: Dr. Samuel J.
Keene is an independent consultant and a Six Sigma Senior Master
Black Belt. He teaches Black Belts and Green Belts, mentors Black
Belt projects and certifies new Black Belts. When Sam was at
Seagate, he executed at least two major cross-functional projects
each year. Sam also led Seagate’s Master Black Belt Council,
comprising the leading MBB’s at each Seagate location, worldwide.
This council promotes best practices, develops and organizes tools
and procedures and promotes cross-organization project facilitation.
He was one of 13 Six Sigma professionals participating with the ASQ
developing the Body of Knowledge for the Black Belt certification
exam.

TIME: 8 June 2010
LOCATION: National University of Singapore, Computing 1,
Seminar Room 10
GOAL: Risk-based testing (RBT)
offers an exciting approach to cost effective testing by selecting
features and functions to be tested based on priority/importance and
likelihood or impact of failure. RBT is useful to reduce escape
defects to the customer. The focus is on "practical" RBT and covers
areas including (i) applying RBT in practice, (ii) selecting
organizations to introduce RBT, (iii) incorporating RBT to agile
methodology, (iii) measuring the effectiveness of RBT, (iv) benefits
and challenges of RBT. The talk is of interest to all software and
system engineers.
INTERNATIONAL TRAINER: Dr. Rajesh
Subramanyan is a project manager with Software Development
Technologies at Siemens Corporate Research (SCR), Princeton, NJ. He
has been with SCR, Software Engineering department since July 2005.
Prior to joining Siemens, he was a visiting assistant professor with
CS Purdue University between 2003-2005 where he designed and
implemented a successful software development life cycle program in
collaboration with large industries like Hewlett Packard, Cisco,
Microsoft, Harris Communications, etc.
