Team Kent Ridge Secures First Place in Benchmarking Category at IndySCC’24

Congratulations to Team Kent Ridge for securing 1st place in the "Hero HPL" benchmarking category at IndySCC'24! This remarkable victory marks NUS's debut at the largest international student high-performance computing (HPC) competition, hosted at the SC'24 conference in Atlanta, Georgia—a flagship event for global HPC research and industry.

The team competed against 20 universities, including world-renowned institutions such as Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech, and Zhejiang University. Demonstrating outstanding expertise in optimising performance on a supercomputing cluster, their achievement is even more significant as it was their first participation, going head-to-head with experienced teams.

Team Kent Ridge (Wang Jiefan, Akash Chandrasekaran, Lee Tze Han, Win Way Yan, Tan Chien Hao & Himaya Hewageegana), a collaboration between students from the NUS School of Computing and NUS College of Design and Engineering (Computer Engineering), was co-advised by NUS Computing’s Senior Lecturer Cristina Carbunaru and Instructor Sriram Sami. This success highlights the power of interdisciplinary teamwork and the technical excellence fostered at NUS.

Congratulations to Team Kent Ridge for this landmark achievement! Their success sets a strong foundation for NUS's continued impact in the global HPC arena.
