Mr. Foong Sew Bun joined Department of Information Systems and Analytics as a Professor of Practice in 2024. His illustrious career in the information technology sectors span more than three decades and across the globe, in key roles such as the 1) Managing Director and Group Head, Technology Services of the DBS Bank, 2) Deputy Chief Executive (Services, Governance, CyberSecurity) of GovTech, 3) Global Head, Digital Transformation (Retail Banking, Private Banking and Wealth Management), Technology and Operations at the Standard Chartered Bank, 4) Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for IBM ASEAN, ASEAN Software Group, etc.. He was the first Singaporean to be named an IBM Distinguished Engineer in global IBM. Mr. Foong has also contributed his expertise to various national-level committees and advisory panels over the years, such as the Chairman and Senior Advisor of National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF) Steering Committee, member of National Research Foundation (NRF) Advisory Committee, member of Keppel Technology Advisory Panel. He was honored with the 2016 IT Professional of the Year Award during the SCS (Singapore Computer Society) Annual IT Leaders Awards ceremony.
