17 October 2018 – NUS Computing welcomes three new faculty members to the Department of Computer Science. They are:
Mr Adi Yoga was appointed a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science on 13 August 2018. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Computer Science at NUS Computing. His research interests are in Programme Verification, JavaScript, and Graph (Hypergraph) Theorem.
Prior to his appointment, Mr Adi Yoga began teaching as a part-time Teaching Assistant while in his third year of undergraduate studies in NUS Computing. He proceeded to start his PhD in 2011 after his undergraduate degree and became a full-time teaching assistant with the Department in 2014.
Dr Bhattacharyya joined NUS Computing as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science on 5 September 2018. He obtained his PhD and Master of Engineering degrees in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, in 2012 and 2006, respectively. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Physics with a minor in Mathematics from MIT in 2005.
Prior to joining the Department, Dr Bhattacharyya was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Automation at the Indian Institute of Science, India. His research interests include algorithms for big data, probability, statistics, property testing, complexity theory, and interaction between computation and physical systems.
Dr Yao was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science on 1 October 2018. She obtained her PhD and Master of Science degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich, in 2012 and 2008, respectively. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto, Canada, in 2006.
Prior to joining the Department, Dr Yao was an Assistant Professor at the University of Bonn, Germany. Her research interests include human and hand pose estimation, action recognition, gesture recognition, random forests, interacting particle systems, deep learning, semi-supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms.
