27 January 2022 – Four new faculty members have joined NUS Computing’s Department of Information Systems and Analytics:
Dr Li Xiaofan assumed duty as an assistant professor in the Department of Information Systems and Analytics on 28 September 2020. Prior to joining NUS Computing, he received his PhD in Information Systems from The University of Texas at Austin. Dr Li’s research interests lie in cybersecurity and cryptocurrency, and the strategic interactions of relevant entities in these contexts.
Dr Karamshetty officially joined the Department of Information Systems and Analytics as an assistant professor on 10 December 2020. He received his PhD in Technology and Operations Management from INSEAD, and received his Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune.
Dr Karamshetty’s research tackles problems at the intersection of Information Systems (IS) and Operations Management (OM), with a special emphasis on topics related to sustainability and social impact. He works closely with firms across various sectors such as the food and beverage industry, and e-commerce platforms in Asia Pacific, Europe and the United Kingdom. In his work, Varun uses econometrics and machine learning techniques on proprietary data to tease out causal relationships and derive managerial insights.
Dr Nakyung Kyung assumed duty as an assistant professor in the Department of Information Systems and Analytics on 1 July 2021. Prior to this, she obtained her PhD in Management Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
Dr Kyung’s research focuses on the intermediate integration of Information Systems (IS), economics, and healthcare. Her research interests include health behaviour change, healthcare analytics, and mobile business analytics.
