MComp in AI: Frequently Asked Questions
Requirements
You may submit your application for consideration. Admission is on a competitive basis and preference will be given to applicants with strong mathematical training and IT related project or work experience. You may also wish to consider whether your needs could be better served by the MComp (General Track) programme, which is designed for students without prior formal computing background.
Work experience is not required if the major is sufficiently computing-based (eg., major/ specialisation in computing/ computing-related disciplines, etc), subject to the School’s approval.

Only IT industry experience that is gained after obtaining the Bachelor’s degree can be considered in meeting admission requirements.
All supporting documents are to be uploaded before submitting your online application. The School will not assist to upload documents on behalf of applicants.
TOEFL/ IELTS test scores are a separate requirement from the GRE/ GMAT test scores. Applicants who have graduated from Universities where English is not the main medium of instruction are required to submit their TOEFL/ IELTS test scores as proof of English proficiency.
All applicants are generally required to submit GRE/GMAT scores. Applications without GRE/ GMAT test scores may be considered, subject to the School’s approval. Please note that admission into the programme is on a competitive basis.
Admission
In general, no.
It is not necessary to take level 4000 courses.

There is no arrangement for switching programmes. Should you be interested in pursuing the programme by research, you will need to submit a separate application for the research programme. MComp candidates who are successfully admitted to the research programmes will have to withdraw from the MComp programme.
Part-time students can take up to 3 courses per semester, whereas full-time students can take up to 5 courses per semester.

Others
We will assist full-time international students with their Student’s Pass application. Successful applicants who have accepted our offer will be provided with more information.
Students should take into consideration that a high level of commitment is expected of all graduate students enrolled in full-time programmes. Taking on part-time work arrangements to supplement your personal income is generally not encouraged.

You can apply for NUS accommodation when the application is open. Please ensure that your admission status has been updated to “Offer Accepted” in the Graduate Admissions System before you proceed to submit an application for NUS accommodation.
