UROP News

  • August 2024:
    • With effect from AY2024-25, Semester 1, SoC’s UROP students may optionally upgrade their UROP to the UROP+REx (CP3209+CP3209R) programme, with the REx being an enhancement applicable to existing Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) courses. More information can be found here

  • 13 February 2023:
    • NUS will adopt three new academic terminologies from 1 August 2023 – “Module” will be renamed “Course”, “Modular Credit (MC)” will be renamed “Unit”, and “Cumulative Average Point (CAP)” will be renamed “Grade Point Average (GPA)”. • 11 December 2015:
    • A new FAQ item on converting UROP reports into school technical reports has been added.
  • 14 April 2015:
    • A new FAQ item differentiating UROP from CP4101 (FYP) has been added.
  • 19 January 2015:
    • The Project Update form has been deprecated for a simpler email update. You now only need to send an email providing your matric number, name and new project title to Mrs Kwek to have your project updated.
  • 16 January 2015:
    • The UROP Final Report submission workflow will now no longer require hardcopy by default. Students should disseminate their report directly to supervisors and examiners via emailed electronic copy by the report deadline. A copy of the report will also need to be uploaded to IVLE workbin to record the submitted timestamp.
In the case where an examiner or supervisor requests for hardcopy, the student will be required to provide it.
Failure to meet the stipulated deadline (as noted in IVLE) may affect the student’s grade.
This workflow is modeled similarly to CP4101 BComp Dissertation (FYP).
  • 16 January 2015:
    • UROP prerequisites have been modified to drop coursework requirements. The revised requirements are that students need to (1) have passed 60 MCs before attempting UROP and (2) have achieved a 3.8 CAP upon application to UROP.
  • January 2014:
    • UROP students no longer have to attend or submit materials to the UROP Congress, as SoC is no longer participating in the programme.
  • 19 November 2010: Some updates to the following exemptions:
    • For the Communications and New Media (CNM) programme, CS3208/CP3208 is allowed to replace CS4201 Interactive Systems Project I or CS4203 Game Development Project I, and CS3209/CP3209 is allowed to replace CS4202 Interactive Systems Project II or CS4204 Game Development Project II. This is applicable to all students in the CNM programme under the restriction that the project is in the media area (subject to approval of UROP coordinator). This exemption is not applicable to students in the Concurrent programme with Carnegie Mellon University.
