Q1. | Please comment on the strengths and weaknesses of the module, and suggest possible improvements. |
1. | Touches on many theory and concept in HCI but was not able to relate the use of them practically |
2. | - |
3. | - Perhaps make this a co-requisite for CS3240. Both are largely related and students can actually apply the theories learned there like Fitts' Law in CS3240 easily. |
4. | A lot of self learning is needed and students need to stay motivated to keep up with the lessons. |
5. | The module is somewhat aimless at times. It is just some random theories thrown all over the place. |
6. | Strength: - Exposed to a wide range of HCI concepts and how they play a role in defining positive user experience and functional systems. - Spurs lots of further thinking as HCI is a rather new field. Current concepts might not apply in certain context and time. Weakness: - Many concepts to remember and grasp. |
7. | Very good lessons on HCI concepts. |
8. | excellent student participation in module but project demands too precise |
9. | The module introduces many theories of HCI, gives students a deeper understanding of the real HCI. However, it would be probably better to be just a 100% project module without exams. It is not really practical for students to think and apply so many theories in 2 hours. |
10. | 3rd HCI module that I'm taking and I would safely say that for HCI, guidance and iterations is needed. Although it will be a little bit taxing to the students for weekly progress submission, it will be beneficial to the students in the end as there will be a clear direction for students to look towards to. Apart from that, it seems similar to the other 2 HCI modules, CS3240 and CS3248. |
11. | Project should have more iterations. |
12. | I believe that what is taught is mostly useful in research settings, it does not seem logical to explicitly talk about theories in product evaluations. Also I do not like that more than half the module is actually taught us students, does not seem value for my money since I actually paid to come here to student, must as well ask my friends to teach me no? Worst is the workload, pitch+presentation+project+exam seems to be a bit of an overkill especially since the project extends till reading week and all topics are being tested in the close book exam. A piece of A4 help sheet is hardly useful. |
13. | workload is very heavy. A lot of expectations from 1 module. a lot of repeated topics from CS3248, prof Zhao's class. |
14. | Strength: Like the lecture style Weakness: Too many theories, hard to see the link between the lectures. Improvement: Better if short assignments that are related to project, so it forms a milestones for the project. |
15. | This module is more theoretical than I initially thought. However, it was still a great module, mostly due to Prof Kan's method of teaching. The content of the module was generally interesting, and making it a project heavy class actually helped to hone my soft skills. I like that Prof Kan is learning and teaching this module at the same time, so it's good to get a different perspective from a non-HCI lecturer. Overall, a good module that I would recommend to my friends. |
