Installation Checklist

The tables in this appendix provide you with a checklist to assist you in installing Oracle9i. During the installation, you will be prompted for some of the information on this checklist. The checklist covers the following information:


Note:

This checklist is not a substitute for the Oracle9i Installation Guide Release 2 (9.2.0.1.0) for UNIX Systems. Use this is conjunction with the installation guide and the Oracle9i release notes for your platform.

The checklists consist of several columns. The leftmost column indicates the requirements to be met, tasks to be completed, or the information to be obtained before you begin to install Oracle9i. Use the rightmost column to confirm that you have the minimum requirements, to mark that you have completed the tasks, or to write any required information.


Note:

The requirements listed apply to all of the following platforms, unless otherwise noted: AIX, HP, Linux, Solaris, and Tru64.

Hardware Requirements

The following tables list the hardware requirements for installing Oracle9i database.

Components Requirements Requirements Confirmed
Memory A minimum of 512 MB RAM for AIX, HP, Linux, Solaris, and Tru64
Swap Space A minimum of 2 x RAM or 400 MB, whichever is greater
Disk Space 4.5 GB

Software Requirements

The following tables list the software requirements for installing Oracle9i database.

Tuning Kernel Parameters for Oracle For the latest information, refer to the Oracle9i Release Notes release 2 (9.2.0.1.0) for your platform on OracleMetaLink.

There are no kernel parameters required for AIX.


X Server System Software For the latest information, refer to the Oracle9i Release Notes release 2 (9.2.0.1.0) for your platform on OracleMetaLink.

Administrative Groups

The following tables list the system administration groups to be created before installing Oracle9i database.

Component Requirement
  • OSDBA group
  • APACHE group

  • OSOPER group (optional)

  • ORAINVENTORY group (optional)


Administrative Accounts

The following tables list the operating system administration accounts to be created for installing Oracle9i database.
