- Spents alot of effort into teaching and has very good slides and teachces well.
- a responsible lecturer, always arrange and prepare for the course content, explains things patiently
- Effective teaching style even with complex theories
- A really good teacher, he's really clear when going through concepts and will check with the class before moving on.
- One of the most effective prof I've met in NUS.
- He is one of the best lecturer I've encountered in SOC so far that can explain the math and idea behind the theories that well. "Dumbing" it down for the student to understand it easily.
- An engaging teacher who cares for the students' well-being. The course material is well-organised and useful.
- He is thorough with his module content, and encourages students to actively participate in his classes.
- Prof Stanley Kok takes the extra effort to engage the class and to ensure that all doubts are clarified. He conducts his course in a structured and efficient manner, ensuring that the pace of the module is reasonable despite the challenging content of the module.
- One of the best and clearest prof I have ever met in NUS. He gives very informative and clear-to-follow lessons.
- Interesting teaching style
- Prof Stanley's class is extremely well prepared and designed. Really appreciate his immaculate attention to details to maximise our learning.
- He is able to impart knowledge effectively to the students and is patient in understanding queries.
- Great professor who has the ability to simplify complex concepts, given that the topics taught were very stats and math-heavy without him teaching I would definitely have been unable to self-study despite the extensive lecture notes. The format of his "seminar" style lessons with a graded quiz at the beginning ensures that students have to keep up with lecture materials and makes sure that they do not fall behind.
- Stanley is a very good professor and ensures that all his students understand the content. He's extremely patient and is also timely when it comes to feedback.
- He is very active in helping students and answering question
- No way
- Stanley is very knowledgeable, being able to answer almost or all questions posed.
- Very strong at teaching difficult concepts
- Very helpful instructor, responds very promptly on Piazza, planned the course extremely well (IMO), good at explaining the concepts.
- He is very knowledgeable in the subject and is able to effectiveness increase my interest in the module.
- I think he is very stringent yet welcoming to questions related to the module's contents.
- Prof Stanley explains the concepts at a good pace and walks through the thinking process of the lecture material with the students. This really helps with understanding. I also appreciate that he adjusted the assignments based on our workload (e.g. allowing us to work in pairs, making questions optional) when things were getting busier in the semester.
- He is clear with what he teaches and obviously he knows the subject well.
- clear and on-the-ball
- Very good slides, presents very well in a clear and effective manner, properly explains time series without just throwing formulas around
- responsible, clear explanation
- He clears up concepts and his lectures are effective. Quizzes that were assigned helped me to clarify my understanding and pushes me to have continuous revision.
- He is very patient in addressing student's questions
- Very clear when presenting new concepts
- Really good at teaching, one of the best professor's I had in NUS. Is able to communicate the concepts well. (Not sucking up to the prof because I know this is an anonymous survey)
- He is a very dedicated teacher and explains the content step by step really well. I have no troubles following his content and I'm glad he is the one teaching this math-heavy/difficult mod.
- The thoroughness and rigour of the material he prepared + His willingness to answer questions no matter the level of the students' understanding.
- Explain concepts thoroughly
- Explained the materials very well, is able to keep track of the progress of the students even in an online setting.
- Patient, engaging, passionate, helpful, clear.
- Very good at explaining technical details
- Very clear explanation in class, manageable lesson pace

- He makes sure everybody understands the concepts, and goes above and beyond to ensure that everybody learns well.
- One of the best profs when it comes to explaining tough concepts
- He is patient in clarifying the students' queries, and is passionate about the module.
- clear explanations, patient when dealing with questions
- Knowledgeable in his domain.
- Able to explain content well.
- Stanley structures the module really well to slowly build up the content. I also enjoyed that he left exercises for us to attempt during the lectures to test our understanding on the spot.
- Very patient and has great clarity in his explanation
- Good at simplifying complex concepts and mathematical derivations. Fast response to students' questions
- Module is a little heavy
- I think towards the end of the course, some of the concepts were getting really difficult and then listening to the lectures wasn't that helpful anymore (just because the content was hard). It's the kind of concept that would take some time to comprehend.
- The structure of the course could be better. For instance, assigning a higher percentage to the project as it requires quite a heavy workload.
- None!
- Should the lecture be held over zoom again, probably it would be better if he can annotate the slides as he goes through
- provide more guidance on how we can apply what we learnt for project
- none
- The workload for the module is quite heavy. I think it would be good if some of them are reduced.
- NIL
- There doesn't seem to be a relationship between the module coursework and the project itself. So perhaps the syllabus can be refined to include concepts / theories on CMTI (right now it feels like a time-series statistics module)
- Slow down when it comes to the later lectures because it gets confusing.
- Maybe instead of having a 3 hours straight lecture, he should split it up. 2 hours on 1 day, another 1 hour on another day. 3 hours is too long and I usually stop listening after the 1st hour because I need time to grasp the concept.
- I have nothing to complain about the module other than the workload which might be too much to handle considering the other modules I am taking this semester. Else, all is good.
- The weekly quizzes and constant homeworks are well-intentioned but I feel like their frequency makes them incredibly stress-inducing. I dunno if this is a nervous student thing but I've been feeling incredibly stretched out this semester, especially once one starts falling behind- it's hard to catch up.
- Maybe reduce the number of short breaks (consolidate into fewer but longer breaks) because it's a bit hard to follow the lecture recording. Alternatively, would it be possible to pause the recording during a break?
- NA
- Too many deadlines on the same day is tough
- he tends to dives very deep into the mathematics, and sometimes students lose track of what the overall concept is.
- It could be better if homework assignment can be less towards the end of the semester.
- He is unemotional and at times seems uncaring towards students. The weekly graded nano-quizzes that are invigilated via Zoom are anxiety-inducing. Additionally, Prof Stanley doesn't have the ability to create complete slides.
- Though this feedback has been given in the midpoint review, I wanted to suggest it again..Think annotating directly on the slides will be more effective :)
- Explain why Piazza is used instead of LumiNUS. Be less critical of students who choose to watch the recorded lecture instead of attending the lecture. Personally, I attended all lectures, but I always still had to spend considerable time going through the recorded lecture because it was tough to understand everything during the lecture itself. The recorded lectures were very helpful since I could pause whenever I needed to consolidate my understanding. As such, I feel that I can empathise with those people who chose to leave the lecture halfway.
- Provides very clear explanation in class.
- he is very helpful and proactive in answering our doubts
- Prof Stanley cares for students and provided a well-structured course
- Extremely strong at teaching difficult concepts
- for planning the module so well, even though the workload is on the heavier side.
- Same reason given for Prof Stanley's lectures.
- Teaches time series very well in a clear and concise manner. Does not just openly throw the formula around expecting us to understand but really goes through each one properly. One of the best BT profs and modules taught. Definitely deserves a teaching award.
- responsible, good teaching method
- He's a really good teacher, able to explain new concepts well and will ensure that the class is on the same page before moving ahead.
- Communicated concepts effectively.
- Firstly, the course material is well-organised and useful. Secondly, Prof Stanley personally is a very nice teacher who is helpful, engaging, patient and passionate.
- very responsive to questions, has a knack for explaining things clearly
- Extremely strong at teaching difficult concepts
- Very helpful instructor, responds very promptly on Piazza, planned the course extremely well (IMO), good at explaining the concepts.

- teaching method, explanation
- The thoroughness and rigour of the material he prepared + His willingness to answer questions no matter the level of the students' understanding.
- Patient, helpful, engaging, passionate.
- Explain concepts thoroughly
- Have proper tutorial sessions instead of having an extended lecture period.
- I think towards the end of the course, some of the concepts were getting really difficult and then listening to the lectures wasn't that helpful anymore (just because the content was hard). It's the kind of concept that would take some time to comprehend.

- NA
- learnt a lot, as this is my first deep exposure to time series analysis
- Deep learning on time series
- In-depth math
- Well delivered content
- This module made sure that I learn well and that I know the concepts well.
- The assignments and quizzes made me revise every week and kept me on track
- Teaches technical skills that I think will be required in the industry.
- hands-on, many real-world examples
- Comprehensive time series study.
- I liked that homework assignments were done in pairs. My partner and I were able to fill gaps in each others' knowledge and successfully complete the homework assignment. While each lecture was challenging, I enjoyed that it was a slow-build-up and not suddenly challenging one lecture.
- I learn a lot in the module in terms of content.
- Felt like I was understanding how time-series data was being used.
- Rigourous. The module is extremely well planned out, Learnt a lot of things.
- The module exposed me to concepts that i could use to understand what I previously glossed through back in Years 1 and 2 of my modules.
- Time series
- Very relevant to future industry use
- Good knowledge of time series
- Challenging
- learnt more about financial analytics
- the course content
- The theories taught were interesting and we could apply to real life scenarios
- I never knew time series could be interesting.
- It is interesting to me
- The rigour! Very much appreciated.
- The clear outline and "in-depth"ness of time series analysis in finance data. The weekly quiz really helped me to be "on the ball" and not do my revision all at one go nearing finals period. A good balance of graded and ungraded homework to encourage students throughout the semester. The idea of pairwork was awesome.
- The low percentage of grade given to homework assignments felt significantly disproportionate to the large amount of effort required
- Heavy workload, steep bell curve
- Extremely heavy workload. The quantiacs project was a bit tough as we lacked the understanding and the documentation were not
- there or unclear.
- Very difficult but this is not really a complaint since the level of difficulty is necessary.
- we were not equipped with enough knowledge to deal with the project work when it was distributed. Every week of lectures, we were taught something new that we had to incorporate into our project.
- Assignments are really relentless. After submitting one another comes up. Would be nice to get a heads-up on what assignments there are/rough dates or weeks of their release so that we can better prep!
- Module is quite heavy in terms of both content and workload.
- It was incredibly difficult.
- Quantiacs sucks lol maybe can consider switching to another library for future batches
- The workload was a little too heavy.
- Lots of deliverables
- Some concepts can be a bit abstract at times
- content heavy each lesson, quite tiring
- too many homework assignment and nano-quiz, making it very stressful
- The final project, where it was hard to figure where to start with no experience in trading and most of it was not taught in the lecture. Hence, upon embarking on the project, I was quite lost and only figure it out at the very last minute
- The workload is too heavy for a 4MCs module
- Being called out to answer questions almost every lecture. Workload is too heavy. He said the workload gets lighter after mid terms, it was not true.
- project and homework mark weightage is not proportionate to the effort required.
- Heavy Workload and Math.
- The slides' formatting of equations felt like a paragraph of numbers haha, it made it quite hard to follow along in class at times. Maybe the final project could be more tied to what we learned in class as well? I appreciate the exposure to real world data and problems, but it didn't really feel like it was less work in the second half of the semester or that we were implementing what we'd learned in the syllabus.
- Project could have been awarded a slightly higher weightage (compared to the homework component), given the time and effort spent.
- The module title is misleading. It should have been called Time Series Analysis for Financial Data. The slides are so sparse and we often have to copy down important formulas. Given the heavy content, it is difficult to copy and learn at the same time.
- I really appreciate the prof's dedication to teaching this class! :)
- None
- So far Prof Stanley really encourages us to speak up and this forces us to truly understand what we are taught. Prof Stanley is arguably one of the best BT profs if not the best and teaches the module really well and helps us to understand the concept. Some other courses that touch on time series simply throws the formula without understanding anything whereas Prof Stanley really covers most of it. I would really encourage others to take this course because it is taught really well.
- Sometimes it is quite stressful when the instructor calls us to answer questions, especially since the concepts are still fresh and we are trying to grasp and understand the concept.
- Overall, Prof Stanley is well-equipped and highly knowledgeable to teach this subject. However, there are some aspects of the mathematics or intuition that is not easily grasped, and might need more simplistic explanation.
- I think the instructor conducts the class well and I wish that people would answer questions more so the class can really get going. (I think the questions are very well placed though)
- A very knowledgeable and responsible prof.
- Nice prof, very enthu about the subject, sometimes he uses too many mathematical terms in one sentence and I get confused but its probably only me...
- -
- na
- I don't know how easy this when teaching remotely but if you could annotate the slides while going through it, that would help me follow you better.
- Sometimes it can be hard to understand his english as the terms used can be quite profound
- Well done! but please try try to be abit less intense in giving work and when going through lecture material :')
- Prof stanley is an excellent prof who engages students and encourages questions to be asked during and after lecture
- Weekly quizzes at the beginning are good to ensure that student's keep up to date with content taught rather than learning it all at the end.
- However once other modules start having deliverables due in week 6 onwards maybe the frequency can be toned down so that we won't be in such a rush to fully review each weeks content.

- The prof can go slower because sometimes I find it hard to catch what he is saying , but overall great lecturer!
- The classes and materials are well structured. Prof Kok also puts in the extra efforts to incorporate various techniques to help us better understand the contents.
- Great instructor/lecturer!
- Very handsome, likes to take smoke breaks
- The instructor is very engaging and allows us to explore the content in-depth. However, too much class participation may cause excessive stress and anxiety for students, causing them to lose concentration during the class... :(
- NA
- Very inspiring prof and encourages me to constantly be on the ball

- What's covered in the syllabus is interesting, but at the same time I'm having trouble following the slides easily during lecture because of the way it's structured per slide, e.g. the bullet points distract me, especially when trying to follow the math formulae and expressions. I end up rewriting everything with headers and subheaders after rewatching the lectures, but I'm not really sure that's an efficient way of following the class as I never really know what questions I've got during class time itself.
- The course content is good and maybe it is better to cover more about classic real-world trading strategies.
- NIL
- So far, the course is good and what we are testing in lecture is relatable to tutorial. What I really love about this course is that they do not simply throw formula at u unlike some other BT modules and expect you to understand... So far it is one of the best BT mods I have taken. While workload slightly heavy, I think it is good also to really force you to truly understand what is required of time series analysis as well.
- Some concepts are way too abstract, probably having more (numerical) examples are better
- High workload
- na
- Align the readings more closely with the lecture slides content
- Course content is suitably difficult as per expectations, but is taught in an incremental manner so as to ensure that one can follow along.
- -
- Sometimes it feels the course content can get too tough, especially with the rigourous maths involved and the need to understand the complex and abstract concepts, within 1 week of the teaching in preparation for the quiz the following week. Although the weekly quizzes pushes us to study and keep up with the concepts, sometimes it is really difficult to keep up with the concepts, especially the more difficult ones.
- It's very rigorous, feels like a 8MC mod :--( Maybe make it more chill?
- Definitely did not expect this level of mathematics rigourity for this module, but I would expect that possibly for capital market trading analytics, alot of time series analysis and understanding of the intuition would be fundamental.

- At this point, still not really sure how to apply lecture materials for the final project
