I left Graz today, and went to Klagenfurt.
After I've settled down at the hotel, I set off to the Gustav Mahler Komponierhäuschen (Composing Cabin) immediately. It was located at Strandbad Maiernigg, about 3 - 4 km from Klagenfurt. The receptionist at the hotel was very helpful, and took the trouble to looked through the bus guide and advised me which bus to take to go there. But unfortunately, both of us did not realised that it was a holiday that day and thus there was no service for that bus service which would bring me close to Strandbad Maiernigg. As a result, I had to walk for around 2 km on foot to reach there.
There was another PostBus service which would lead right to the carpark at Standbad Maiernigg, but I had already missed the schedule when I reached the hotel.
Strandbad Maiernigg is located by Lake Wörthersee. From the car park, I followed the sign-posted trail leading to the composing hut which was located on the top of a hill. This gentle trail is almost 1 km long. Behind the composing hut, there is also a steep slope which reached down to the road in less than 100 m. Across the road lies the villa which Gustav Mahler stayed. This villa stands just next to the lake, and can be seen rather prominently from the lake. (I took a picture of this villa from the lake the next day, when I was on a cruise.)
