I left Maastricht at around noon to Rotterdam. I checked in to Hilton Rotterdam Hotel, which is located near the central station.

Rotterdam is a cosmopolitan city, with people more than 150 nations. Apart from the Netherlanders, the main immigrants are from Turkey, Suriname, Curaçao and Morocco. Most of the people I saw are blacks. But I had not seen any beggars on the streets or subways. Most people I saw were well-behaved.

I spent the afternoon at two museums nearby -- the Museum Het Schielandshuis (Historisch Museum Rotterdam) and the Maritiem Museum.

In the evening at around 8 pm, the sky was still bright. The road outside the city hall had been cordoned off, and a stage had been set up. The loudspeakers were playing loud dance music. Many people had gathered here.

I went Oudehaven, the city's first harbour and took some photos there. The Kijk-Kubus (Show Cube), one of a series of cube-shaped houses designed by the architect Piet Blom and built in 1984, was also located there.
