For this semester, CS4330 will cover topics in genome sequencing and processing, such as read mapping, contig construction, scaffolding, assembly polishing, and genome annotation. The course focuses on algorithmic aspects, rather than on using specific software tools.
A rough outline of the course is:
Relevant computational techniques such as k-mers and dynamic programming will be introduced as needed.
Assessment be based on 2-3 assignments (worth 30-40% of course grade), a project (20-30%), and the final exam (40-50%). The final exam will be open book.
