Top 10 Popular Singapore Primary Schools - 2020

We understand that all parents would want the best for their child, and this is especially so when it comes to education. As many of us would agree, primary school education is critical as it lays the foundation for a child's academic path. While there is no official list for the best primary schools in Singapore, we have come up with a list of the top 10 most popular schools. The list is collated based on P1 registration numbers released by the MOE after each of the registration phases.

We further took into account feedback from parents and ex-students, and also assessed the list based on school culture, academic rigour and their primary school exam papers. The listed 10 are based on alphabetical order.

- Ai Tong School
- Catholic High School
- CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School
- Nan Hua Primary School
- Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School
- Rosyth School
- Rulang Primary School
- St. Hilda’s Primary School
- Tao Nan School
- Temasek Primary School

In addition, we have come up with a list of factors to consider when choosing a primary school for your child.

1. Distance and location
Ask any seasoned parents on pro tips to choosing a primary school and you will most likely be told that distance is a practical factor to consider. Going to a primary school that is closer to your home will cut down on travelling time. This is especially apparent when your child starts their Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) and enrichment classes. Time saved would then allow for more rest time for the child.

2. Child's interest
While academic excellence could be a focus for most parents, it is just as important to develop a child beyond the classroom. As parents, you would know your child's strengths and be able to identify their potential and interest. Selecting schools with CCAs that aligns with a child's interest could be another factor in the primary school registration process.

3. School's culture
The best schools sometimes comes down to choosing a school that is suitable in terms of culture and environment. To gain an insight on a school's culture, try interacting with parents of current students, reading from online forums or even visiting the school during their open house.
