Nanimation, or Nam Animation, are files produced by network simulator ns-2. It can be viewed using nam, or network animator. Both nam and ns-2 are open source and can be downloaded free of charge. They are unix-based software. If you want to compile and run them on windows, you need to install cygwin.

Once you compiled and installed nam, you can run a given nanimation, say, foo.nam, with "nam foo.nam".

Another alternative, is Java-based tool called Javis.
